4x–5 =±3. Then we equate to get the values of x.

4x-5=3 and 4x–5=-3

We solve to get two values of x.

4x–5= 3                               4x–5= -3

4x=3+5                                4x=-3+5

4x=8                                     4x=2

X=2                                         x=0.5
